Role Overview
This General Manager position is a hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the Group Managing Director. You will take ownership of the company's daily operations, turning the board's strategic vision into concrete budgets, action plans, and measurable results. Your work will directly shape the organisation's financial health, customer growth, and long-term competitive position.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate the corporate strategic plan into practical business plans and tactical action plans that teams across the company can execute.
- Own the annual budgeting process, from income forecasting to expense provisioning, and present clear financial updates to the Board each quarter.
- Monitor cash flow and operating costs closely to protect liquidity, reduce waste, and safeguard against financial irregularities.
- Drive customer growth by implementing sales strategies, refining the product offering based on client import/export behaviour, and responding to their operational challenges.
- Build and maintain a thorough picture of the competitive landscape, new industry developments, and expansion opportunities to inform strategic recommendations.
- Establish a leadership and people-management framework that attracts, develops, and retains a skilled, motivated, and disciplined workforce.
- Develop and apply policies that manage credit risk and operational risk across the business while keeping customer interests at the centre of every decision.
- Proactively advise the Board on changes or improvements to direction, policy, and strategy, seeking guidance when needed and escalating issues early.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Master's degree in a business-related discipline, combined with a Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, or a closely related field.
- At least 8 years of experience managing a team and overseeing multiple operational functions simultaneously.
- Proven experience in planning and budgeting, including building accurate income projections and controlling expenditure.
- Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude with strong organisational and leadership capabilities.
- Solid stakeholder engagement and analytical skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with Board members, staff, and external partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, numeracy, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of the logistics industry is considered an added advantage.
