Industry Sector: Manufacturing / FMCG

Gross Salary Structure: Kshs. 200,000 – 220,000

Location: Mombasa

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly sophisticated, commercially grounded Financial Controller to anchor our corporate treasury pipelines and multi-tiered factory cost accounting frameworks. Your primary objective is to drive long-term structural profitability across our regional operations, ensuring that plant margins, working capital controls, and monthly reporting modules execute flawlessly under strict statutory timelines. This position bridges high-level commercial forecasting with hands-on cost-center management; you will evaluate every variable from bulk ingredient batch costs and factory floor scrap variances through to multi-million shilling corporate banking relationships. The role demands an analytically sharp, process-centric financial executive who can enforce watertight internal audit trails while delivering deep strategic insights to the executive board.

Scope of Responsibilities

Strategic Forecasting & Dynamic Reporting

  • Formulate, reconcile, and publish comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in strict compliance with IFRS parameters.
  • Deliver highly contextualized financial summaries and operational KPIs to executive directors, calling out expanding expense pockets or margin dilutes.
  • Engineer complex financial models, cash-flow projections, and long-range rolling forecasts to guide factory capacity adjustments.
  • Spearhead the master annual corporate budgeting process, analyzing cross-departmental variances and deploying immediate correction rules.

Production Costing & Inventory Optimization

  • Design, evaluate, and maintain advanced manufacturing cost-accounting frameworks to accurately trace overhead absorption and variable conversion rates.
  • Monitor industrial raw stock parameters, evaluate inventory valuation indexes, and calculate precise margin levels per production line.
  • Orchestrate systematic physical inventory verification campaigns across regional distribution centers to isolate and settle usage discrepancies.
  • Conceptualize and drive high-yield material cost-reduction initiatives without compromising product quality or plant safety limits.

Internal Controls, Treasury & Asset Security

  • Structure, deploy, and monitor robust internal control matrices to fully safeguard heavy mechanical assets and multi-currency funds.
  • Oversee corporate cash flow velocity, maximizing liquidity parameters across receivables tracks, payable pipelines, and storage turnrates.
  • Champion corporate tax positioning, managing the error-free filing of all direct and indirect statutory levies without risk of institutional penalties.
  • Coordinate full external and internal corporate audits, serving as the technical liaison and deploying remediation recommendations instantly.

Workforce Leadership & Multi-Department Alignment

  • Govern the daily professional growth of the finance team, designing clear performance metrics and delivering regular skills coaching.
  • Drive a strict culture of financial accountability, data precision, and continuous processing speed improvements across the department.
  • Interface directly with Plant Engineering, Procurement, and Fleet Logistics managers to eliminate cross-functional waste and optimize supply spend.
  • Manage high-level institutional banking relationships, ensuring credit lines and foreign exchange transactions execute at optimal parameters.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum Entry Criteria

  • Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a complementary corporate finance track from a recognized university.
  • Professional Qualifications: Fully qualified CPA(K), ACCA, or a globally matching senior accounting designation with active standing.
  • Industrial Longevity: Minimum of 8 years of progressive finance experience, with an absolute mandatory minimum of 3 to 5 years operating within a senior leadership capacity inside a complex Manufacturing or FMCG distribution plant.
  • Technical Mastery: Superior command of standard manufacturing costing methodologies, multi-currency accounting, and advanced automated ERP architectures.
  • Analytical Toolkit: Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency with a deep background in designing complex formulas and enterprise valuation structures.

Leadership Competencies

  • Commercial Judgment: Exceptional capacity to balance aggressive cost containment with the fluid funding demands of a high-capacity manufacturing line.
  • Process Articulation: Strong presentation capabilities, with a proven knack for explaining intricate financial metrics simply to non-financial site teams.
  • Risk Discernment: Highly detail-oriented mind specialized in capturing balance-sheet exposures, macro currency risks, and inventory tracking leaks.

Why Us

  • Complex Industrial Control: Take absolute operational command over a high-output manufacturing finance matrix situated in an economic transport hub.
  • Executive Visibility: Serve as a core strategic advisor to senior enterprise leaders, directly shaping product pricing models and investment plans.
  • Substantial Resource Backing: Lead a well-resourced financial wing equipped with modern automated enterprise tools and highly driven personnel.
