Job Description

Role Overview

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be the primary technical point of contact for healthcare providers using Philips imaging systems, ensuring that critical diagnostic equipment runs continuously and safely. Your day-to-day work involves traveling to customer sites to install, repair, and maintain advanced modalities such as MRI, CT, and X-ray, while also providing remote support through Philips’ service channels. This role directly impacts patient care by minimising equipment downtime and building strong, trust-based relationships with clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-site corrective and planned maintenance for a range of Philips imaging systems, performing hardware and software upgrades to extend equipment life and performance.
  • Use approved diagnostic tools, remote monitoring, and structured problem-solving methods to identify root causes of system failures and execute repairs with minimal disruption to clinical operations.
  • Own technical cases from initial report through final resolution, coordinating with remote support teams and escalating complex issues as needed to meet service-level agreements.
  • Adhere strictly to Philips quality standards, medical device regulations, and safety protocols, including radiation safety and MR safety, while maintaining accurate service documentation and part traceability.
  • Manage assigned spare parts inventory, ensuring that the correct components are available for each job and that all used parts are disposed of or returned according to company procedures.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, explaining system status, setting realistic repair timelines, and anticipating how equipment issues may affect their workflow and patient schedules.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with fellow field engineers, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and help identify opportunities for service contract upgrades or equipment lifecycle replacements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Biomedical, Mechatronics), Medical Sciences, or a directly related scientific field.
  • At least four years of experience in a customer-facing role within engineering, medical technology, or a science-based environment.
  • Practical, hands-on experience servicing diagnostic imaging equipment such as MRI, CT, X-ray, Cath Lab/IGT, or Nuclear Medicine – either as a field service engineer or within a hospital biomedical or clinical engineering department.
  • Familiarity with service management platforms (e.g., ServiceMax or similar CRM/FSM tools) and remote diagnostic systems.
  • Manufacturer-specific modality training certificates (multimodality certification is preferred).
  • IT or networking certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA) is considered a plus.

What We Offer / Why Join

This position places you at the heart of Philips’ commitment to improving patient outcomes, giving you the opportunity to work with cutting-edge medical imaging technology and a global service organisation. You will be supported by ongoing training, remote technical resources, and a collaborative team environment that values expertise, continuous learning, and customer impact.
