Role Overview
Jambojet is looking for a Procurement Officer to be based in Nairobi, Kenya. This person will handle the daily purchasing work that keeps the airline supplied and cost-conscious, from finding dependable vendors to finalising agreements and following orders through to payment. The role matters because it directly affects how smoothly the operation runs, how much the company spends, and how well supply risks are managed.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and assess potential suppliers for goods and services used across different departments, then recommend the best choices based on price, quality, delivery ability, and reliability.
- Run sourcing exercises, including preparing requests for quotation or proposal, comparing bids, and making award recommendations that fit budget and operational needs.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and purchase agreements with chosen vendors, making sure terms on pricing, timelines, warranties, and performance expectations are clear.
- Manage the full purchase-to-payment cycle, from raising purchase orders and confirming deliveries to checking invoices and sorting out discrepancies before payment.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, monitor their performance, and address issues such as late deliveries, faulty goods, or contract non-compliance.
- Work alongside finance, operations, and other internal teams to understand their procurement needs and give timely updates on order status.
- Track spending patterns and spot opportunities to cut costs or consolidate purchases without sacrificing quality or service levels.
- Keep accurate procurement records, including contracts, supplier details, and transaction histories, and support audits or compliance reviews when required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in procurement, supply chain management, or a closely related discipline.
- At least three years of hands-on procurement experience, ideally in a fast-paced or regulated setting such as aviation, transport, or another service industry.
- A recognised procurement or supply chain certification is required.
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Comfort using procurement software and tools for purchase orders, vendor management, and spend tracking.
- Strong analytical skills to compare quotes, assess total cost of ownership, and uncover cost-saving opportunities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for dealing with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Ability to prioritise multiple purchasing requests and deadlines in a dynamic operational environment.
