Role Overview
You will be the face of UMS Prepaid Metering Solutions in the field, driving direct sales of prepaid electricity metering products to households, businesses, and institutions. Your day-to-day work involves planning territory routes, meeting customers face-to-face, demonstrating how the metering system works, and building a network of independent agents who extend your reach. This role is essential to growing the company’s market share in the prepaid utility space, turning cold leads into long-term paying customers, and feeding actionable market insights back to the sales team.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, approach, and convert prospective customers for UMS prepaid metering solutions through proactive field prospecting and door-to-door engagement.
- Recruit, onboard, and motivate independent sales agents within assigned territories, providing them with product knowledge and sales support to amplify coverage.
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations that clearly communicate the benefits of prepaid metering, including cost control, transparency, and convenience.
- Maintain and nurture ongoing relationships with existing customers and agents, ensuring high satisfaction and repeat business.
- Plan and execute daily field visits, follow-up calls, and closing visits to move leads through the sales pipeline.
- Meet and exceed monthly sales targets while preparing accurate activity reports that track customer interactions, agent performance, and revenue outcomes.
- Collect and report market intelligence on competitor activity, customer preferences, and emerging opportunities to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve customer issues promptly and ensure smooth installation, activation, and after-sales support.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 1–2 years of proven field sales experience is highly preferred, particularly in utilities, energy, or metering solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and influence diverse customer groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the natural ability to build rapport quickly with customers, agents, and other stakeholders.
- Self-driven and results-oriented, with the discipline to work independently and manage your time efficiently across multiple territories.
- Reliable personal transport or dependable access to transport, as the role requires extensive travel within the assigned region.
- Basic proficiency with mobile apps, spreadsheets, or CRM tools for recording sales activities and submitting reports.
