Role Overview
As a university lecturer, you will deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate instruction while actively contributing to the academic and research life of the department. Your daily work involves preparing and presenting course content, assessing student progress, and guiding learners through complex subject matter. Beyond the classroom, your research and professional engagement help raise the department’s academic standing and ensure graduates are well prepared for industry or further study.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials across assigned courses in your area of specialisation.
- Design course syllabi, reading lists, assessment tasks, and marking rubrics that align with university standards and current disciplinary developments.
- Set, administer, and grade examinations, assignments, and practical projects, providing constructive feedback to support student learning.
- Supervise undergraduate and, where applicable, postgraduate research projects, theses, or dissertations.
- Conduct original research, publish findings in reputable academic journals, and present at conferences to advance knowledge in your field.
- Participate in departmental responsibilities such as curriculum review, academic advising, student mentorship, and committee service.
- Engage with professional networks, industry partners, or regulatory institutions to ensure course content remains relevant and professionally aligned.
- Maintain accurate student records and contribute to quality assurance processes, including programme evaluation and accreditation reporting.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master's degree in the relevant field from a recognised university; a PhD in the same or closely related area will be considered a distinct advantage.
- Proven experience in university-level teaching, with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to diverse student groups.
- Relevant professional or industry experience in the area of specialisation is highly valued, particularly where applied practice enriches the curriculum.
- A demonstrated track record of scholarly output, including peer-reviewed publications, research grants, conference presentations, or comparable professional contributions.
- Fulfilment of the appointment criteria set by the Commission for University Education (CUE) and any other applicable regulatory bodies for university teaching staff.
- Where the field requires it, current registration or active membership with the relevant professional or regulatory body is mandatory.
