Role Overview
As an Electrical Technical Machine Operator at Sierra Premium Breweries Ltd, you will keep production flowing by operating, monitoring, and maintaining the electrical and mechanical systems behind our canning and packaging lines. Your day-to-day focus is preventing avoidable stoppages, responding quickly to electrical faults, and making sure every batch runs smoothly from start-up to wash-out. This role matters because a single machine failure can ripple through the entire brewing schedule, so your technical judgment and troubleshooting speed directly protect output quality and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and supervise production and packaging equipment according to standard procedures and daily production targets, with particular emphasis on canning line performance.
- Execute machine start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, and wash-outs efficiently, ensuring product integrity and minimal line downtime throughout each shift.
- Monitor line performance in real time, diagnose basic electrical faults, and make on-the-spot corrections before minor issues escalate into major breakdowns.
- Support preventive maintenance routines and scheduled inspections by identifying wear, loose connections, calibration drift, or any emerging electrical or mechanical risk.
- Track critical process parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, and fill levels, adjusting settings as needed to keep output within specification.
- Maintain accurate logs for production output, quality checks, equipment stoppages, and shift handovers so the next team has a clear and honest picture of line status.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts, suggesting practical fixes that reduce repeat failures and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
- Follow all food safety, GMP, HACCP, and environmental health and safety rules, and take immediate action when a process step risks product safety or personnel wellbeing.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- At least two years of hands-on experience working in a beverage manufacturing environment, ideally around high-speed canning or packaging equipment.
- Practical experience operating production or packaging machinery, including performing routine changeovers, adjustments, and basic fault correction.
- Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, sensors, and safety circuits commonly found in automated production lines.
- Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, or other industrial control systems is an advantage, as is prior exposure to brewing, utilities, or process plant operations.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to stay calm and systematic when a line stops unexpectedly.
- Reliable team player who communicates clearly with operators, maintenance technicians, and shift supervisors.
- Comfortable working in a physically active production environment and available to work rotating or alternating shifts as required.
