Role Overview
This role anchors the medical content strategy inside MSF Ubuntu’s digital health ecosystem, making sure every tracker, electronic medical record, and reporting dashboard speaks the same clinical language. Day to day, you will define and govern medical indicators, coordinate validation with technical advisors, and turn messy operational data into clear intelligence that shapes medical programming decisions. Your work matters because it directly determines whether field teams can trust the numbers they rely on to save lives in sometimes fragile and fast-moving contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of medical content within DHIS2, EMRs, and related platforms — from request intake and feasibility checks to validation, release, and post-deployment support.
- Maintain a central catalogue of medical indicators, datasets, metadata, clinical terminology, and reporting structures aligned with MSF intersectional standards and interoperability principles.
- Collaborate closely with epidemiology, data science, and digital health teams to embed solid data governance, quality assurance, and harmonized reporting across all Ubuntu programs.
- Provide hands-on technical support to country programs, helping them configure project-specific metadata, troubleshoot system issues, and adapt content as operational needs shift.
- Develop dashboards, visualizations, documentation, and guidance materials that make routine health data easier to interpret and act upon at both field and portfolio levels.
- Lead training, webinars, and mentoring for medical advisors, field staff, and new users, while building a permanent e-health team over the next few years.
- Contribute to annual planning, reporting cycles, and medical data analysis so that the Med-Ops cell and country leadership can make evidence-based strategic choices.
- Represent MSF Ubuntu in intersectional digital health communities of practice, technical working groups, and external forums to shape broader health information system standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Medical Doctor, Registered Nurse, Clinical Officer, or another relevant clinical health qualification — essential.
- Master’s degree in public health, health informatics, epidemiology, digital health, health information systems, or a closely related field — essential.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian or public health programs, with demonstrated hands-on work in DHIS2, electronic medical records, or other health information systems.
- Proven ability to configure and maintain medical metadata, indicators, and reporting systems, plus strong skills in medical data management, analysis, and visualization.
- Track record of supervising, mentoring, and delivering training to diverse teams in low-resource or complex operational settings.
- Deep familiarity with data quality management, indicator development, dashboard tools, and Microsoft Office 365; excellent documentation habits are non-negotiable.
- Strategic, analytical, and service-oriented mindset with strong communication, influencing, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English is required; French or Arabic is an added advantage.
- Commitment to MSF’s principles, equity, diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning; comfort with travel to operation countries and occasional short-notice deployment during crises.
