Role Overview
This full-time driving role is based in Nairobi and supports the organisation’s daily movement of people and materials, with safety, punctuality, and vehicle care at the centre of the job. The driver will be trusted with company vehicles and will represent the employer professionally whenever staff, clients, or other approved passengers are on board. Because the position calls for a D1 licence and a valid PSV badge, it suits someone who already understands passenger-service driving and the compliance duties that come with it.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out assigned journeys around Nairobi and nearby areas, transporting employees, visitors, clients, and other authorised passengers safely and on schedule.
- Drive company vehicles in a calm, courteous, and lawful manner, adjusting to traffic, weather, and road conditions.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking tyres, brakes, lights, fluids, mirrors, and other essentials before declaring a vehicle roadworthy.
- Keep assigned vehicles clean inside and out, and arrange routine washing, fuelling, servicing, and repairs through the proper channels.
- Follow all Kenyan traffic regulations, PSV requirements, and internal road-safety rules, including seatbelt and passenger-safety practices.
- Record trips, mileage, fuel purchases, and maintenance work accurately, and keep required vehicle documents current and available for inspection.
- Flag mechanical faults, accidents, traffic incidents, or security concerns to the supervisor without delay.
- Help with luggage, packages, or light goods during pickups and drop-offs, handle company property and passenger information discreetly, and carry out other driving-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid D1 driving licence.
- A current PSV badge is non-negotiable.
- Demonstrated driving experience, ideally gained in a corporate, professional, or passenger-transport setting.
- Strong familiarity with Nairobi’s roads, landmarks, routes, and surrounding areas.
- A driving history free of serious violations and at-fault incidents.
- Good spoken communication and courteous interpersonal skills for dealing with passengers and colleagues.
- Punctual, dependable, and professional, with the ability to work flexible hours when duties require it.
- Ability to manage passengers and company property with care and accountability.
- Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting would be beneficial.
- No separate academic qualification is specified; suitability is assessed mainly through the required licence, PSV badge, and driving record.
