Twyford International needs a Transport Supervisor to take ownership of the daily running of its company-owned vehicle fleet. This role keeps vehicles roadworthy, drivers deployed safely and legally, documentation current, and operating costs under control across a busy transport operation. The position is central to making sure the fleet supports reliable service delivery while meeting Kenyan road transport and safety obligations.
Role Overview
The Transport Supervisor will manage the company’s own vehicles and drivers day to day, from dispatch and route planning through maintenance, compliance, and cost tracking. Working primarily from Kajiado with operational support for Kisumu when required, the role acts as the link between fleet performance, driver standards, and management reporting. Success means fewer disruptions, stronger safety compliance, tighter fleet costs, and better visibility of how vehicles and drivers are performing.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep all statutory vehicle documents up to date, including registrations, inspections, licences, permits, and renewals, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring Kenyan transport requirements are met.
- Plan routes, prepare daily dispatch schedules, and monitor delivery timelines, vehicle availability, and utilisation to keep transport operations efficient and responsive.
- Run preventive maintenance and inspection routines, coordinate repairs and servicing, manage workshop scheduling, and oversee spare parts, tyres, and maintenance consumables.
- Control fleet operating costs by tracking tyres, servicing, repairs, parts, and other maintenance expenses, preparing maintenance budgets, analysing costs vehicle by vehicle, and identifying savings that do not compromise safety or reliability.
- Manage own-fleet drivers by assigning daily work, supporting recruitment, interviews, and road tests, assessing performance, recommending retention or replacement, enforcing company procedures, and conducting safety briefings and training.
- Assist Chinese management in developing and implementing fleet procedures covering dispatch, driver management, inspections, preventive maintenance, fuel and tyre management, fleet safety, and accident reporting, then monitor compliance and drive improvement.
- Coordinate accident management and insurance claims, including reporting, investigation, follow-up, liaison with authorities, insurers, and workshops, claim documentation, and identifying recurring safety issues for preventive action.
- Prepare regular fleet reports on vehicle utilisation, availability, maintenance, costs, incidents, and driver performance, and provide management with operational updates, analysis, and recommendations.
