Role Overview
As Deputy Principal for Primary and Kindergarten, you will direct the academic and pastoral life of our youngest learners, from early years through to the end of primary. Working alongside the Principal, you will ensure that the British National Curriculum is delivered with fidelity while remaining deeply rooted in Islamic values and identity, creating a cohesive environment where children grow academically and spiritually. Your daily work involves managing teaching staff, refining curriculum implementation, and driving school improvement initiatives that directly shape every child’s learning journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Kindergarten and Primary sections, ensuring smooth and efficient running of school routines.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, providing constructive feedback and coaching to staff to raise student outcomes.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of the British National Curriculum, adapting it to meet the needs of students aged 2.5 to 11 while integrating Islamic education across subjects.
- Manage assessment systems, analysing student data to identify gaps in learning and implement targeted interventions.
- Support the professional growth of teaching staff through regular observations, appraisals, and tailored professional development opportunities.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and well-disciplined environment, acting as the primary point of contact for student welfare, behaviour, and safeguarding concerns.
- Collaborate with parents, community members, and the senior leadership team to strengthen the school's Islamic identity and maintain strong partnerships with families.
- Contribute to the school’s strategic planning, including curriculum developments, resource allocation, and accreditation requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A recognised teaching qualification, preferably a degree in Education or a relevant subject, with a master’s in educational leadership an advantage.
- At least five years of teaching experience in a primary or kindergarten setting, with two or more years in an educational leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience working with the British National Curriculum, ideally in an international school context.
- A strong understanding of Islamic educational principles and the ability to integrate them into everyday school life.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, manage performance, and create a positive working culture.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of current safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting child welfare in line with statutory requirements.
