Role Overview
This position is responsible for delivering comprehensive cosmetology instruction to students, covering both theoretical foundations and hands-on practical application in a training institution. The instructor will guide learners through beauty and hairdressing techniques, while also managing classroom dynamics, assessing progress, and promoting professional conduct. This role directly shapes the competence and employability of future cosmetology practitioners by ensuring rigorous skill development and industry-aligned training.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver trade theory and practical lessons in cosmetology, demonstrating techniques and supervising student practice sessions.
- Develop and maintain detailed lesson plans, schemes of work, records of work, and task analysis documents aligned with the approved curriculum.
- Conduct continuous and summative assessments for trainees, including practical evaluations, written tests, and competency-based grading.
- Oversee the proper use, care, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and consumables within the cosmetology workshop.
- Operate industry-standard machines and tools during demonstrations while enforcing safety protocols and best practices.
- Organize and supervise co-curricular activities that complement the training environment and contribute to student development.
- Maintain student discipline within classrooms, workshops, and institutional premises, implementing corrective measures when necessary.
- Provide guidance and counseling to students on academic, professional, and personal matters to support their overall growth.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of a Diploma Certificate in Cosmetology from a recognized institution.
- Possession of a valid TVETA Trainer's License is mandatory.
- At least 2 years of proven teaching experience in a cosmetology or vocational education setting.
- Demonstrated ability to teach both trade theory and trade practicals effectively.
- Strong skills in preparing lesson plans, schemes of work, records of work, and task analysis.
- Competence in managing students, including maintaining discipline and creating a positive learning atmosphere.
- Practical proficiency in operating cosmetology machines and tools safely and efficiently.
