Community Outreach Officer

Role Overview

As a Community Outreach Officer, you will spend most of your time in the field, building relationships with cooperatives, microfinance institutions, registered groups and bancassurance partners so that microinsurance products reach people and businesses that formal insurance has largely overlooked. Day to day, you will open new accounts, revive relationships that have gone quiet, train the intermediaries who sell on CIC's behalf, and make sure clients genuinely understand the cover they are buying. Your efforts directly shape how quickly CIC Microinsurance expands across the regions and market segments assigned to you.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and onboard new individual clients and institutional intermediaries, including cooperatives, microfinance institutions, registered groups and bancassurance partners.
• Win back dormant or lapsed accounts and open up fresh distribution channels that widen CIC's reach in your assigned territory.
• Run community sensitisation sessions, product demonstrations and training workshops for both clients and intermediaries to build awareness and drive uptake.
• Draft proposals and quotations, pursue incoming leads, and keep an accurate, up-to-date record of your sales pipeline.
• Coordinate with underwriting and customer service colleagues so that new clients are onboarded smoothly and service issues are resolved quickly.
• Collect and pass on intelligence about shifting market trends, customer expectations and competitor activity to support ongoing product refinement.
• Meet agreed individual and team sales targets while protecting CIC's brand reputation, customer satisfaction levels and policy persistency.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least a Diploma in a business-related discipline; a Bachelor's degree is an added advantage.
• Professional insurance qualifications such as COP, ECOP, or a Diploma in Insurance (AIIK, CII or LOMA) are an added advantage.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to address community groups and institutional partners.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, sales or field mobilisation will be an advantage.
• Applicants should be 25 years of age or older.
