Clinical Officer
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Officer to deliver high-quality medical care in a challenging refugee setting. The role focuses on clinical assessment, treatment, patient management, and supervision of support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical assessments and prescribe treatment in line with MOH/WHO guidelines.
- Ensure all patient registers and files are accurately completed and updated regularly.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and treat every patient with respect and dignity.
- Perform minor surgical procedures at the work station.
- Take detailed patient histories and update treatment records for admitted patients.
- Conduct and attend ward rounds.
- Respond to medical emergencies at the hospital and health posts.
- Attend and participate in weekly Continuing Medical Education sessions (CMEs) at the hospital boardroom.
- Supervise medical assistants stationed at health posts.
- Conduct on‑the‑job training for auxiliary staff and incentive workers on a regular basis.
- Maintain a high standard of care for all patients.
- Identify critically ill patients and prioritize treatment accordingly.
- Compile and submit reports on time.
- Ensure universal precautions and infection prevention guidelines are followed.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge Management
- Create and share knowledge by documenting lessons learned, success stories, best practices, strategies, and approaches.
- Track best practices and stay informed about current trends, emerging issues, opportunities, and thematic areas in youth engagement efforts key to the county.
- Conduct research to identify appropriate stakeholders and cost‑effective program components, and implement findings into practice.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya and possess a valid practicing license.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience, preferably in a refugee setting.
