Role Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Clinical Officer to join our medical team in Banana. In this capacity, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive primary healthcare, from initial patient assessments and complex diagnoses to the implementation of effective treatment plans. Your role is critical in bridging the gap between outpatient care and emergency interventions, requiring a professional who is equally comfortable in a consultation room as they are performing minor surgical procedures. We look for a clinician who prioritizes patient safety, maintains meticulous medical records, and excels in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Functional Responsibilities

Clinical Diagnosis & Patient Management

• Conduct thorough history-taking and physical examinations to diagnose a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

• Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans, prescribing appropriate medications and monitoring recovery progress.

• Order and interpret laboratory investigations and imaging results to support clinical decision-making.

• Provide continuous patient counseling and health education to improve long-term wellness outcomes.

• Manage patient follow-up systems to ensure continuity of care and adjustment of treatment where necessary.

Procedural & Emergency Care

• Perform minor surgical procedures, including suturing, incision and drainage, and wound care, while strictly adhering to aseptic techniques.

• Stabilize emergency cases presenting at the facility and execute life-saving interventions when required.

• Facilitate the timely and safe referral of critical or complex cases to higher-level medical institutions.

• Ensure all surgical and clinical procedures comply with national health safety protocols.

Administration & Team Collaboration

• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient files in accordance with regulatory standards.

• Participate in clinical shift handovers and case discussions to ensure seamless department operations.

• Collaborate with nursing and laboratory staff to optimize patient flow and facility efficiency.

• Prepare periodic clinical reports for management to track facility performance and patient trends.

Professional Requirements

Academic & Regulatory Background

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.

• Licensing: Must be a registered Clinical Officer with a valid, up-to-date practicing license.

• Experience: 2–3 years of post-qualification experience, preferably within a high-volume clinical or outpatient setting.

Critical Skill Set

• Technical Proficiency: Competence in minor surgical skills and emergency case management.

• Decision-Making: Strong diagnostic abilities and the capacity to remain calm under emergency pressure.
