Job Description

Role Overview

This faculty role centres on delivering clinical medicine instruction across certificate, diploma, and degree programmes while ensuring students gain both theoretical grounding and hands-on hospital-based experience. As a lecturer, you will shape future clinical officers by designing course materials, leading practical sessions, supervising clinical placements, and contributing to the department’s research agenda. Your work directly supports the institution’s goal of producing competent, licensed practitioners who meet the standards of the Clinical Officers Council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions for clinical medicine courses assigned by the Head of Department.
  • Design, develop, and update curricula and teaching materials for new and existing programmes at multiple academic levels.
  • Supervise students during clinical placements in hospitals or other healthcare settings, providing real-time guidance and assessment.
  • Participate in curriculum reviews and collaborate with departmental colleagues on course development and research activities.
  • Conduct independent or collaborative research, write grant proposals, and pursue consultancy opportunities relevant to clinical medicine.
  • Present research findings at national or international conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals or other scholarly outlets.
  • Mentor students and junior academic staff on professional development, career planning, and clinical best practices.
  • Ensure all teaching and assessment activities comply with the regulatory requirements of the Clinical Officers Council and institutional policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine, or an equivalent degree from a recognised/accredited university.
  • At least three years of post-qualification work experience in clinical practice or academia.
  • A current, valid practising licence issued by the Clinical Officers Council.
  • Demonstrated potential for university-level teaching and academic research, evidenced by previous teaching experience or research outputs.

What We Offer / Why Join

No specific benefits or perks are mentioned in the source material. This role offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of clinical officers while advancing your own research and professional practice within a structured academic environment.
