Role Overview
This faculty position delivers diploma-level instruction in Clinical Medicine, combining classroom theory with hands-on clinical training to prepare students for professional practice. Day to day, you will design blended learning materials, supervise practical sessions in healthcare settings, and assess student progress through examinations and assignments. Your work directly supports the department’s mission to produce competent clinical officers and upholds the university’s commitment to academic excellence and community health.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach diploma courses in Clinical Medicine and contribute to other programmes as assigned.
- Develop and update teaching materials that support blended learning approaches, including digital resources and simulation-based exercises.
- Provide practical clinical training to students, guiding them in real or simulated patient care environments.
- Prepare departmental plans, academic documents, and curriculum contributions in collaboration with colleagues.
- Set, moderate, administer, and mark examinations and assignments, and submit grades according to university timelines.
- Attend departmental meetings, school activities, seminars, workshops, and conferences to stay current in the field.
- Promote the mission and vision of the department and university through teaching, mentorship, and professional conduct.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the university administration that align with the role.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognised institution.
- Minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent academic qualification.
- A valid practising license from the Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya.
- Clinical experience in a healthcare setting – an added advantage.
- Proficiency in modern teaching methods, including the use of technology and simulation tools in clinical education.
