Job Description

Role Overview

You will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, handling everything from greeting and taking orders to processing payments and maintaining store appearance. Your daily tasks involve balancing efficient transactions with attentive service, ensuring each visitor leaves satisfied and that the business runs smoothly during busy periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers warmly, listen to their needs, and provide accurate product or menu information.
  • Operate the point‑of‑sale system to ring up purchases, process cash and card payments, and issue receipts.
  • Keep work areas, dining surfaces, and merchandise shelves clean, stocked, and visually appealing throughout the shift.
  • Assist with restocking inventory, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates during slower moments.
  • Handle customer questions, complaints, or returns professionally and escalate only when necessary.
  • Support colleagues during peak hours – whether covering a register, refilling supplies, or helping with floor organisation.
  • Follow workplace procedures for cash handling, opening/closing duties, and daily sales reporting.
  • Adhere to flexible scheduling, working evenings, weekends, or holidays as the business requires.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must hold a KCSE certificate (original and a copy to bring to the physical interview).
  • Live within Kisumu (KSM) and be available to attend a physical interview on a Wednesday.
  • Bring hard copies of all relevant documents (academic certificates, ID, previous employment letters).
  • Prior experience in service/waitressing, shop keeping, retail, or customer service roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a POS system accurately and efficiently.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • High level of professionalism – punctuality, respectful communication, and a neat appearance.
