Role Overview
This position places you inside a vibrant school classroom as a co-teacher working alongside a resident teacher to deliver enquiry-based learning that sparks curiosity and academic growth. Day to day, you will split your time between leading core content lessons, supporting students during supervised learning, assessing progress, and partnering with families to keep every child engaged and thriving. Your work directly supports the school’s mission to cultivate confident, joyful learners and to build a pipeline of transformative educators who will shape the future of education across the continent.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the resident teacher to plan and deliver enquiry-based lessons, co-creating an organised, developmentally appropriate classroom environment that keeps students focused and motivated.
- Lead a portion of core content lessons while supervising and supporting students during other instructional periods, ensuring smooth classroom transitions and positive student behaviour.
- Assess student progress continuously, using data from observations, assignments, and evaluations to adjust content and delivery for individual and group growth.
- Communicate regularly with parents in partnership with the resident teacher, including attending parent conferences and providing updates on student achievement and needs.
- Take part in daily team reflections, weekly professional development sessions, and instructional coaching to refine your practice and embrace feedback.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead an after-school co-curricular activity, bringing energy and structure to a group of students across different ages.
- Maintain the classroom environment by preparing lesson materials, documenting and displaying student work, and keeping the space tidy and conducive to learning.
- Fulfil supervision duties during arrival, lunch, playtime, and dismissal, and support school-wide events and committees as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Possess a valid TSC certificate and a relevant degree in Education.
- Have at least 1–2 years of teaching experience in a classroom setting.
- Demonstrate working proficiency with G-Suite applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms with students, staff, and parents.
- Show flexibility and adaptability, handling ambiguity, complexity, and change with poise.
- Approach challenges proactively, identifying issues and working through solutions with care and persistence.
- Exhibit a strong commitment to collaboration, mutual vulnerability, and using feedback as a tool for growth.
- Bring enthusiasm for developing leadership skills and applying them to positively impact the lives of young learners.
