Position Title: Business Development Manager - Outsourced Finance & Advisory
Direct Line Reporting: Managing Director
Industry Sector: Professional Services / Accounting & Advisory / Corporate Finance
Gross Salary Structure: KSh 80,000 – 100,000 (Plus Uncapped Commissions)
Location: Nairobi, Kenya (With Regional East African Scope)
We are seeking a high-caliber, results-driven Business Development Manager to take total commercial ownership of new-client acquisition across East Africa for our rapidly expanding professional services firm. Operating in a high-autonomy environment, you will sell sophisticated outsourced accounting, tax compliance, IFRS financial reporting, payroll, and fractional-CFO advisory models to mid-sized businesses, regional startups, and expanding enterprises. This is an outbound commercial closing role; while our operational back-end is anchored by Big 4-trained chartered accountants across seven continental markets, your sole mission is to source, nurture, pitch, and convert high-value monthly retainer contracts. The ideal candidate is an articulate, financially literate B2B deal-maker with a strong executive network across the East African ecosystem and a proven track record of converting C-suite leads into long-term retainers.
Assume full commercial responsibility for revenue generation, driving the entire B2B sales cycle from initial outbound outreach to final contract signature.
Generate and manage an active sales funnel across key target sectors, including fintech, real estate, healthcare, agribusiness, and professional services.
Author, customize, and deliver competitive expressions of interest (EOIs), request for proposals (RFPs), and tailored commercial proposals for prospective clients.
Conduct high-level discovery calls and face-to-face pitch meetings with C-suite executives, closing recurring monthly retainer agreements.
Cultivate strategic, high-yield referral networks with venture capital (VC) firms, private equity funds, development finance institutions (DFIs), and legal advisors.
Engage directly with company founders, Managing Directors, and CFOs, positioning outsourced financial infrastructure as a crucial strategic asset for scaling.
Attend key regional trade summits, investor roundtables, and corporate network gatherings to uncover cross-border expansion leads and tax exposure pain points.
Maintain long-term relationships with active referral partners, ensuring a constant pipeline of high-intent corporate inquiries.
Map out priority growth verticals across Kenya, Uganda, and broader regional markets, identifying emerging regulatory and tax compliance catalysts.
Present complex service packages—such as audit-readiness reviews, cross-border tax advisory, and fractional-CFO steering—in simple, commercially compelling terms.
Collaborate with the delivery team to ensure seamless handovers from signed agreement to operational onboarding, preserving client trust and retention rates.
Monitor market pricing structures and competitor offerings to keep our retainer models aggressively positioned.
Track Record in Commercial Sales: Demonstrated, verifiable history of success as a B2B closer selling high-value retainers or consulting packages within professional services (accounting, advisory, legal, payroll, or corporate services).
Financial Literacy: Strong ability to lead credible discussions around IFRS standards, corporate tax compliance, cash-flow forecasting, and fractional-CFO value metrics without requiring technical accountants present in early pitch meetings.
Regional Market Exposure: Deep operational networking connections within the East African SME, corporate, and investor ecosystems (Kenya, Uganda, and surrounding markets).
Pipeline Command: Excellent mastery of consultative selling techniques, pitch deck presentations, and formal proposal drafting.
Target-Driven Focus: Self-directed and highly resilient professional who measures personal success strictly by signed retainer contracts and revenue generated.
Executive Gravitas: Confident, articulate communicator capable of establishing trust with senior decision-makers, venture-backed founders, and board members.
Strategic Autonomy: Able to organize outreach schedules, run regional business development pipelines, and meet monthly targets with minimal direct oversight.
Competitive Earning Structure: Solid monthly base salary paired with lucrative commission structures on every converted retainer agreement.
Strong Delivery Engine: Complete backing from a seasoned execution team of Big 4-trained accountants, ensuring high client satisfaction and contract renewals.
Regional Footprint & Autonomy: Broad commercial scope across Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and neighboring markets, providing a platform for rapid professional growth.
