Job Description

Role Overview

You will lead outbound sales efforts for integrated B2B solutions that combine hardware, software, and data services—specifically Smart Solar Dryers, FarmShield IoT, and the FarmCloud platform. Day to day, you identify and close new business with cooperatives and mid-tier agro-processors during your first six months, then expand to NGO programmes, county governments, and other institutional buyers. This role matters because it directly scales the adoption of climate-smart agricultural technology, reducing post-harvest losses and improving productivity for smallholder farmers and processors across Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, engage, and close new B2B customers, prioritising cooperatives and mid-tier processors in the first six months, then broadening to institutional buyers such as NGOs and county governments.
  • Manage the full sales cycle—from prospecting and discovery sessions through product demonstrations and negotiated close.
  • Own and maintain a disciplined CRM pipeline, tracking deal stages, next actions, and forecasting accuracy; provide structured weekly updates.
  • Translate customer pain points into tailored technical-commercial proposals by collaborating with engineering, agronomy, and product teams.
  • Build lasting relationships with key decision-makers at institutional and enterprise levels, representing the company in client meetings, field visits, and demos.
  • Support pricing, proposal development, and contract negotiations to move deals from interest to signature.
  • Conduct formal handovers to the Customer Success team after closing—documenting commitments, deal context, and potential upsell or renewal risks.
  • Spend 40–60% of time in the field visiting cooperative sites, processor facilities, and client premises; the remainder on pipeline management and proposal work.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field—engineering (mechanical, civil, mechatronics, electrical, biosystems, renewable energy) is an advantage, as are business, commerce, or agribusiness backgrounds paired with a strong commercial record.
  • Experience: 2–4 years in B2B technical sales or business development, with proven experience selling to institutional, NGO, cooperative, or enterprise clients (agritech, hardware, or capital-equipment exposure strongly preferred).
  • Closing track record (non-negotiable): Ability to walk through three largest closed deals—size, cycle length, and how you got to signature.
  • Skills: Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills; high ownership, discipline, and execution mindset; comfortable with significant field travel.
  • Technical edge (added advantage): Skills in solar energy installation, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • AI fluency: Must be comfortable using AI tools (the company provides premium accounts for Claude and Gemini to supercharge your role).

What We Offer / Why Join

  • Base salary of KES 70,000–90,000 per month (offer within band reflects demonstrated closing record), plus KES 10,000 monthly transport allowance.
  • Commission of 3% on collected revenue above KES 100,000 per month, plus internal bonus awards via the Bonusly system.
  • Monthly cash meal benefit and annual health cover with AAR Insurance.
  • Flexible working hours and a work-from-home benefit (with 4 days per week in the Nairobi office).
  • A small, driven team with an informal, non-hierarchical culture—focused entirely on moving the mission forward.
  • Opportunity to put climate-smart hardware on real farms and processor floors, creating measurable impact in Kenyan agriculture.
