Role Overview
The Associate Manager, Trade Marketing will turn regional priorities into practical trade plans for Uganda, working closely with distributors and internal teams to improve product availability, retail visibility, and sales. The role has a particular focus on growing Pocket Lighters and Shavers while also supporting trade marketing across Stationery, helping the business expand market reach and deliver stronger in-store execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate local trade plans that support regional priorities and respond to opportunities in Uganda’s retail channels.
- Work with distributors and Sales teams to strengthen market coverage, expand distribution, and maintain product availability in priority outlets.
- Improve retail execution by monitoring merchandising, planogram adherence, product presentation, and brand visibility.
- Plan the placement and use of point-of-sale materials, and assess whether they are reaching the right outlets and engaging shoppers.
- Coordinate trade promotions, below-the-line activities, consumer activations, and retailer engagement with the Business Development Manager and relevant teams.
- Use sales, distribution, promotion, shopper, and competitor information to track performance, identify growth opportunities, and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage trade marketing spending, review returns on investment, and report progress against agreed commercial and execution measures.
- Serve as the main trade marketing contact in Uganda, aligning local execution with regional teams and collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer Service.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in trade marketing, marketing, or a related commercial role.
- FMCG experience and familiarity with distributor-led or multi-market operations.
- Ability to plan and assess promotions, retail activations, and in-store execution.
- Confidence working with sales and distribution data, KPIs, budgets, and performance reports.
- Strong collaboration skills for coordinating with distributors and cross-functional, local, and regional teams.
