Role Overview
This position is a hands-on, field-focused business development role within an established electronic security systems provider serving government, financial, and commercial clients across Kenya. You will be the engine room of the sales operation: making cold calls, visiting construction sites, identifying pipeline opportunities, and preparing quotations, all while feeding precise market intelligence to the Business Development Manager. Beyond the support mandate, you will carry your own set of leads and be accountable for converting them into actual accounts, giving you a direct stake in the company’s revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively generate leads through high-volume outbound cold calling and targeted outreach to decision-makers in the construction, security, and facilities management space.
- Arrange meetings and introductory sessions for the Business Development Manager with consultants, architects, quantity surveyors, project owners, and security managers.
- Conduct on-the-ground site visits, project spotting, and market canvassing to uncover active construction projects and upcoming opportunities.
- Compile and relay accurate, timely local market intelligence and project intelligence to the BDM to sharpen pipeline strategy and relationship planning.
- Draft detailed quotations in collaboration with the presales team, using gathered site specifications and client requirements to produce accurate pricing inputs.
- Keep the CRM system current with leads, contact records, follow-up tasks, and meeting outcomes to ensure a clean, traceable pipeline.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects between BDM touchpoints to keep the sales funnel warm and engaged.
- Deliver on agreed KPIs covering volume and quality of leads generated, meetings set, and closed conversions from your own pipeline.
- Take independent ownership of selected leads from initial contact through negotiation to closure, while also supporting BDM-originated opportunities.
- Provide administrative and coordination backup to the BDM, including scheduling, document preparation, and tracking action items to completion.
- As the role matures, take on a designated industry vertical to build deeper, more specialised knowledge and relationships.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or another relevant discipline.
- At least 1–2 years of B2B business development, sales support, or telesales experience.
- Comfortable and persistent in outbound cold calling, with the confidence to initiate conversations with senior stakeholders and unknown prospects.
- Strong organisational habits, disciplined follow-through, and a meticulous eye for detail across documentation and reporting.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills capable of representing the company professionally in person and in writing.
- Practical familiarity with CRM systems for activity logging and lead tracking.
- Ability to work with quotation templates, pricing data, and presales coordination without getting lost in technical complexity.
- Self-driven and resourceful, equally able to execute structured plans from the BDM and to pursue independent leads with initiative.
- Prior exposure to ELV systems, electronic security, or the electrical engineering sector is a strong plus, but not mandatory.
What We Offer / Why Join
You will receive product and technical training on electronic security systems at onboarding, so prior security-systems product knowledge is not required. The role offers direct mentorship from an experienced Business Development Manager and a realistic pathway into more senior business development responsibility over time. You will be part of a collaborative, team-based sales environment rather than working as an isolated individual contributor, giving you support while still rewarding your own initiative and lead ownership.
