Backend Developer

Role Overview

You will be an integral member of an Agile engineering squad focused on designing and delivering secure, cloud-ready enterprise applications. Your day-to-day work involves writing backend services and APIs, building user-facing interfaces, and collaborating closely with product and platform teams to ship reliable software. This role matters because the systems you build support critical business operations, so stability, security, and clean code are just as important as new functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services, REST APIs, and event-driven components using Java (Spring Boot) and Python, ensuring they scale under production load.
• Build responsive front-end features with ReactJS or AngularJS, integrating them with backend services through well-defined API contracts.
• Design and implement containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate them on Kubernetes or OpenShift, following cloud-native best practices.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate builds, tests, and deployments, embedding security checks at every stage of the delivery lifecycle.
• Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and participate in code reviews to keep defect rates low and maintainability high.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production incidents, and apply root-cause fixes that prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA engineers, and DevOps specialists to refine requirements, estimate work, and plan releases.
• Document technical designs, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting guides to support knowledge sharing across teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend application development and API integration.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Solid programming skills in Java with Spring Boot and Python; hands-on experience with ReactJS or AngularJS for front-end work.
• Practical knowledge of microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and integration patterns.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL; familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Working knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift), plus exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Hands-on experience setting up CI/CD pipelines and using Git for version control; understanding of secure development practices and DevSecOps principles.
• Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment, with strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• A proactive, analytical mindset with a track record of troubleshooting complex issues and delivering sustainable solutions.
