Role Overview

This position is responsible for delivering hands-on technical training to students enrolled in vocational and technical education programmes. You will translate industry skills into structured classroom and workshop sessions, keeping learners engaged while building their practical competence in a specific trade. Your work directly supports the institution’s mission to produce job-ready graduates who meet national technical standards and employer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed schemes of work, lesson plans, and session notes that align with the approved curriculum and clearly sequence learning outcomes.
• Deliver practical instruction in your trade area, demonstrating correct techniques and supervising learners as they apply skills in workshop or laboratory settings.
• Prepare, organise, and update teaching and learning materials, ensuring they are relevant, accessible, and suitable for mixed-ability trainee groups.
• Assess trainees through continuous evaluation, practical tests, written assignments, and formal examinations, then record and report results accurately.
• Maintain accurate trainee records covering attendance, performance, progress, and any corrective actions taken to support learner development.
• Take responsibility for the care, safe use, and routine maintenance of tools, equipment, and training facilities, reporting faults or hazards promptly.
• Plan and participate in co-curricular activities that build trainees’ teamwork, leadership, and personal confidence alongside their technical skills.
• Uphold discipline among trainees, applying the institution’s code of conduct fairly, and offer guidance and counselling to help learners overcome academic or personal challenges.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Hold a craft certificate, artisan certificate, or Government Trade Test Grade 1 in one of the following areas: electrical and electronics engineering, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, clothing, fashion and design, textile technology, food and beverage, refrigeration and air-conditioning, building and construction, hairdressing and beauty therapy, civil engineering, maritime transport and logistics, computer studies, information technology, or ICT.
• Possess a qualification equivalent to the above from a recognised institution, with evidence of formal training in the relevant trade.
• Have a minimum of two years’ practical working experience in the relevant trade area, with demonstrated competence in real-world applications.
• Hold a certificate in computer applications from a recognised institution, showing proficiency in basic office software and digital record-keeping.
• Possess an instructor certificate from KSTVET (formerly KTTC) or a Trainer of Trainers (TOT) certificate lasting at least two weeks, issued by a recognised institution.
• Demonstrate strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills suitable for teaching and mentoring technical trainees.
