Assistant Manager – Risk Quality Assurance

Role Overview

This position carries overall ownership of risk, quality and safety, health and environmental (SHE) performance across a geothermal energy development programme. Day to day, the holder maintains the corporate risk register, tracks quality assurance metrics, leads improvement initiatives and keeps the organisation's quality management system audit-ready, while directing SHE activities so that exploration, drilling and development milestones are met safely, on schedule and within environmental limits. The role matters because geothermal expansion depends on disciplined risk controls and dependable quality systems, and this is the person who keeps both aligned with the development strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and keep current the company's Risk Management and Quality Assurance plan, adjusting it as geothermal development priorities evolve.
• Own the enterprise risk register: identify, score, monitor and report risks, and pursue mitigation actions with the officers accountable for them.
• Define quality assurance metrics across departments and use the resulting performance data to target improvements.
• Identify quality improvement opportunities and lead the improvement activities that follow, from scoping through to verified results.
• Direct SHE programmes so that geothermal development targets are delivered economically, on time, safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
• Pull together safety, health and environmental monitoring data generated by Environmental Health Safety and Social Management Plans (EHSSMP) and use it to build a strong SHE Management System (SHEMS).
• Advise management on the direction of SHE management in line with the geothermal development strategy and expansion plan, including aligning SHE planning with evaluated resource potential and the prioritisation of prospects for exploration and development.
• Oversee upkeep of the Quality Management System, including ISO 9001 implementation, audit follow-up, corrective action and delivery of the QMS maintenance plan.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A cumulative twelve (12) years of work experience, of which at least three (3) years must have been served at the grade of Principal Risk & Quality Assurance Officer or in a comparable position.
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Economics, Business, Administration, ICT, Mathematics or Statistics.
• Master's degree in engineering, science, business or social sciences (supported by a Bachelor's degree in one of those fields), or a Master's degree in Quality Assurance and Safety.
• Postgraduate certificate in geothermal technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
• Level II Certificate in Risk and Quality Assurance or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
• Lead auditor certificate in Risk and Quality Management Systems from a recognised standards organisation.
• Membership of a relevant professional body, where applicable.
• A leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognised institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Applications should be accompanied by a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, and documentary evidence of the leadership course, the postgraduate certificate in geothermal technology, the Level II Risk and Quality Assurance certificate and the lead auditor certificate.
