Role Overview
This position focuses on delivering high-quality instruction in nursing theory and clinical practice at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The lecturer will play a central role in shaping competent nursing professionals through hands-on teaching, research mentorship, and curriculum review. Day-to-day work involves preparing course materials, supervising student research, and contributing to the university's academic and community engagement goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions across nursing programmes, ensuring alignment with professional standards.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, including thesis and dissertation work.
- Participate in curriculum development and review to keep content current with evolving healthcare needs and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research, aiming for publication in reputable academic journals.
- Prepare and mark examinations, assignments, and other assessments, providing timely feedback to students.
- Mentor students in academic and professional development, including clinical placements and career guidance.
- Contribute to departmental and university committees, as well as community outreach activities.
- Stay updated on advances in nursing science and pedagogy to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Hold both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Nursing from accredited universities.
- Be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing or a closely related field at a recognized university, or be eligible to register.
- Possess a valid annual practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications relevant to teaching and research.
- Provide evidence of potential for university teaching, research, and scholarly publication, such as prior teaching experience or published work.
