Stanford University’s Department of Pathology is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting/Finance Associate to support its accounting and finance operations. This remote position will work under the direction of the Accounting and General Finance Manager and will focus on maintaining financial accuracy, processing transactions, and supporting compliance with university financial policies.
The successful candidate will assist with expense reimbursements, financial transaction reviews, accounting documentation, reporting, and resolving financial inquiries. Strong organizational and communication skills are important, along with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced academic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review, process, compile, and maintain accounting transactions and supporting documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Verify transactions, journal postings, supporting documentation, authorizations, and other financial records.
• Monitor accounting systems for outstanding and clearing items and follow up as necessary.
• Compile and review financial data and daily reports while generating standardized financial reports.
• Respond to financial and transactional inquiries from internal departments and client groups.
• Assist with p-card administration, travel cards, and employee expense reimbursements when required.
• Establish accounts in financial systems and prepare invoices as assigned.
• Support new initiatives, including user testing and process improvement activities.
• Maintain departmental accounting files, procedures, and process documentation.
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately in a fast-paced professional environment.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Basic accounting procedures and financial transaction processes.
• Computerized office applications and accounting systems.
• Financial documentation, reporting, compliance, and record management.
