Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Associate and the overall guidance of the OHCHR Kenya Country Office Representative, the driver will perform the following duties:

  • Drive office vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel, ensuring that protocol requirements are observed during the Country Representative’s official meetings and missions within the country.
  • Make regular deliveries of parcels, documents, etc., between the UN office and other offices and institutions, e.g. Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc.
  • Make minor purchases and collect urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested. Collect goods from customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities. May make or collect payment for goods.
  • Meet official personnel at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required.
  • Deal effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
  • Take care of the day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs; ensure that the vehicle is kept clean.
  • Maintain logs of official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
  • Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
  • Apply good judgment in the context of assignments given.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of data, as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning, and decision making.
  • Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
  • When not engaged in driving duties, perform other tasks such as maintaining stores and assisting with the distribution of mail, among others. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Special Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Driver training with a valid driver’s license.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required.
  • Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorized vehicles, is required.
  • One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable.
