Operations Supervisor - Cabro Making Site

Direct Line Reporting: Plant Manager

Industry Sector: Construction

Gross Salary Structure: Kshs. 30,000

Location: Kenol-Thika

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly disciplined, safety-conscious Operations Supervisor to manage our concrete paving block (cabro) and precast manufacturing site. Your primary focus will be to streamline daily production workflows, driving raw materials from early aggregate batching and mold pressing through to successful curing and yard storage. This position bridges practical engineering oversight with hands-on labor management; you will coordinate daily production quotas, execute product quality tests, and maintain strict material yield counts to keep wastage at zero. The role requires a technically minded field leader who understands concrete mix ratios and can enforce tight occupational safety standards while maximizing daily yard output.

Scope of Responsibilities

Production Efficiency & Workflow Execution

  • Oversee the daily manufacturing setups for paving blocks, road culverts, drainage channels, and auxiliary precast construction materials.
  • Map and implement weekly production calendars, aligning staff duties and machine running hours with urgent client delivery targets.
  • Run continuous structural evaluations across production steps to eliminate operational downtime and speed up product turnover.
  • Supervise the mechanical maintenance of mold machinery, vibrating tables, and mixing equipment to keep assets running smoothly.

Quality Assurance & Product Standardization

  • Monitor concrete mix ratios, moisture levels, and pigment distributions to ensure strict alignment with structural building codes.
  • Execute routine compression checks and visual product inspections across finished batches to identify and reject cracked blocks.
  • Issue immediate corrective actions on failing batches, adjusting material recipes or press settings to stop recurring defects.

Material Inventory & Resource Auditing

  • Perform daily stock takes of bulk cement, varied aggregates, chemical hardeners, and steel reinforcement materials.
  • Track raw material consumption loops meticulously, cross-referencing input usage against finished stock output to prevent inventory shrink.
  • Execute strategic cost-control steps across the manufacturing floor to reduce product handling waste and scrap levels.

Labor Supervision & Safety Enforcement

  • Lead daily site toolbox meetings, delegating explicit casting quotas and material handling tasks to field labor teams.
  • Monitor team attendance, resolve daily labor disputes on-site, and deliver objective performance scores to management.
  • Enforce the absolute use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across all mixing, pressing, and transport bays.
  • Perform routine safety walk-throughs, maintain a transparent incident logbook, and immediately address structural site hazards.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum Entry Criteria

  • Academic Foundation: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a directly matching structural line.
  • Field Longevity: Minimum of 2 years of active supervisor experience managing operations within a high-volume concrete yard, block factory, or busy infrastructure site.
  • Technical Acuity: Solid functional understanding of wet and dry-pour concrete techniques, curing timelines, and standard material testing steps.
  • Software Competence: Clean capability tracking stock data and generating shift metrics using Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools.

Site Attributes

  • Command & Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of supervising and motivating casual labor teams in a demanding environment.
  • Analytical Resolution: Quick problem-solving capacity to diagnose manufacturing errors or material sorting delays on the fly.
  • Geographic Flexibility: Comfortable executing long outdoor field shifts within the Kenol-Thika economic corridor.

What's in for You

  • Technical Ownership: Deepen your practical knowledge of industrial precast engineering and large-scale manufacturing workflows.
  • Process Leadership: Take absolute charge of a busy manufacturing site with the authority to build fast, efficient production models.
  • Career Advancement: Build an impressive professional profile within a fundamentally strong, rapidly expanding infrastructure and construction business.
