Job Title: Assistant to the Secretary General
About the International Tennis Federation (ITF)
ITF is dedicated to youth development through tennis. We seek passionate volunteers to support our mission and ensure effective day-to-day operations in service of the big questions facing the organization.
Key Responsibilities
As Assistant to the Secretary General, you will oversee the organization's lawful, ethical, and efficient functioning. Your primary duties include:
Operational Leadership
- Ensure ITF maintains appropriate systems to conduct activities lawfully, ethically, and efficiently
- Ensure ITF is appropriately staffed so that someone is directly accountable for each key function at all times
- Establish clear and effective communication channels (formal and informal) between the Secretary General’s office and each key Officer function
- Guide and evaluate the work of each Officer function
- Provide leadership in setting a positive and productive organizational culture
Project Development & Support
- Identify and develop projects that fall within ITF’s scope; support execution, monitoring, reporting, and closing
- Identify youth development problems that ITF is equipped to address and interested in solving
- Conduct feasibility and planning studies to determine realistic approaches
Recruitment & People Development
- Advertise open positions through ITF networks; receive, screen, and transfer applications to the Secretary General; organize interview logistics for shortlisted candidates
- Organize weekly and monthly meetings to discuss workflows and progress
- Organize quarterly training sessions on organizational culture to foster a positive and productive working environment
- Ensure all staff develop personal performance plans reviewed every six months with the Secretary General
- Continuously improve orientation and induction materials; reflect on personal performance to enhance your role
Person Specifications
- Applicants must be under 30 years old
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in related fields (Administration, Management, Human Resources, International Cooperation)
- Strong organizational skills, including ability to work within tight deadlines
- Detail-oriented with a focus on results
- Self-driven and pro-active
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written, minimally in English); strong interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to work with diverse individuals or groups
- Ability to maintain an established work schedule, with or without flexibility
- Basic computer skills, including graphic communication publications
- Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities
- Strong organizational and management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize
- Motivated to learn and take on new challenges
- Willingness and capacity to volunteer
- Passion and commitment towards youth development
Compensation & Volunteering Terms
ITF Volunteer staff enjoy limitless opportunities for growth and experience. However, ITF does NOT provide any form of monetary compensation. This is a full-time volunteer position. Volunteers are responsible for their own basic expenses (accommodation, transport to the office). ITF covers direct operational expenses only, such as transport to meetings, field visits, and official operations.
