Ubiquiti has taken a bold step into storage with its new UniFi NAS lineup, and what stands out most is the design. Ubiquiti’s new desktop NAS looks more like a wireless router than the typical bulky drives you see from Synology or Ugreen. Sleek, minimal, and modern, it’s clear the company wants storage to blend into your setup instead of sticking out.
The new UNAS 2 and UNAS 4 are Ubiquiti’s first desktop NAS devices. Unlike traditional storage boxes that look industrial, these models resemble slim wireless routers. That design choice makes them perfect for home offices or minimalist desk setups where aesthetics matter as much as performance.
The UNAS 2 is the entry point, priced at $199, and comes in black or white. It holds two 3.5-inch hard drives in a RAID 1 configuration, giving users data redundancy for safer backups. Instead of bulky front-loading bays, Ubiquiti designed a bottom access panel with a sliding lock to keep drives secure while upright.
On the front, you’ll find a 5Gbps USB-C port for expanding storage with external drives. Power is delivered via Power over Ethernet (PoE), requiring just one cable for data and power. For those without PoE switches, Ubiquiti includes a 60W PoE adapter in the box—removing extra setup hassles.
For anyone already invested in the UniFi ecosystem—routers, switches, and security cameras—this NAS is a natural extension. It offers seamless integration while keeping the modern design language consistent. Instead of an eyesore, you get a NAS that looks like it belongs on your desk.
