Advice for New Job Seekers (All Nationalities) in the UAE

If you're new to the UAE and currently exploring job opportunities, here’s a sincere piece of advice based on personal experience living here:

One of the key challenges many newcomers face is that work experience from their home country is often not fully recognized or valued in the local market. In the UAE, local experience and familiarity with the business culture are highly regarded by employers.

You might be wondering: "How can I gain local experience if no one is willing to hire someone new to the country?"

This is the real challenge. To overcome it, you may need to accept roles that are initially below your qualifications or salary expectations. It may not be ideal, but it’s a strategic entry point. Once you gain UAE experience, even in a supporting or junior role, your profile will become significantly more competitive.

Getting involved in the local work environment, understanding the culture, and building a professional network will open doors for better opportunities in the future. Being flexible and persistent during your initial phase is essential.

    It’s just a humble tip 😊

wishing you all the success in your job search journey here in the UAE!  less

Job hunting right now is tough. Really tough. In the past few weeks, I’ve applied for role after role. Dozens of applications sent, tailored resumes and cover letters written and yet, I’ve secured a few interviews but no score.

Then it’s the “better aligned” line although it’s the literal job I’m doing or was just doing. A few just ghost me because what do I really matter after pouring my heart out and showing the ultimate vulnerability to a stranger…

Most applications get no response at all. Others end in an instant auto-decline, without so much as a phone call or a chance to have a conversation about my skills and experience.

It’s hard not to feel deflated. You start to question yourself, even when you know you have the capability and track record to add real value.

I know I’m not the only one feeling this. Job seeking in the current market is more competitive than ever, and it can take a real toll on your confidence.

For anyone else in the same boat — keep going.

And if you’re a hiring manager or recruiter reading this, I implore you to remember the human side of the process. A simple conversation can go a long way.

    Dear Recruiter's,

No candidate is perfect. Stop looking for an ideal candidate. Give chance to a candidate who has the right attitude to prove themselves.

Skills can be taught. not, the right attitude.

    Behind every resume.

You Finished the Interview… and Then Silence. Why? 🤔

    We’ve all been there.
You nail the interview. You feel confident.
    Then… nothing.

No update. No rejection. Just… waiting.

Here’s what’s really happening behind the scenes (from what I’ve observed):

✅ Outcome 1: The company decides not to hire you.
❌ Outcome 2: They realise the role isn’t actually needed.
⚖️ Outcome 3: In the final round, you’re considered overqualified.
🛑 Outcome 4: Budgets suddenly freeze.
🔄 Outcome 5: Internal restructuring makes the role a “later” priority.

What I’ve learned from both sides:
🔹 Transparency matters — silence damages trust more than a “No.”
🔹 Honesty helps — candidates should be upfront about skills & expectations.
🔹 Clarity is respect — recruiters should set realistic timelines early.
🔹 Plans change — and that’s okay, as long as it’s communicated.

Because hiring isn’t just about finding the right person.
It’s about respecting the people you don’t hire, too.

Your CV should show your skills, not everything about your life. Take these off to make it better:

1️⃣ Marital status is not needed.
2️⃣ School education (SSC/HSC) is only important if you’re just starting out.
3️⃣ Date of birth can cause unfair judgment, so leave it out. 🎂
4️⃣ Religion or caste is not important for jobs.
5️⃣ Hobbies are only useful if they help your job (like travel for travel jobs).
6️⃣ ID numbers are too personal, don’t share. 🛑
7️⃣ Unrelated experience or skills should only be included if they matter for the job. 🎯

Too much extra info can hurt your chances. Keep your CV clear and focused!

Make your CV work for you! 💼💪

If you are looking for a job, remember that you only need to convert 1!

    1) You WILL find a lot of recruiters who will ghost you after the first call. Because, they don't have the guts to say that your profile is not the right fit & I am sorry for wasting your time so far!

    2) You WILL find a lot of organizations which are figuring out what is the right path for themselves. So, they post a JD, give an offer, and go back on it.

    3) You WILL face a lot of asshole interviewers. Who just want to pull you down & satisfy their own ego. They don't know that, there are no job guarantees (including theirs).

    4) And this entire process WILL demotivate you without any mistake of yours.

So, keep at it! And keep pushing!  less

    Dear Recruiters and Hiring Managers,

Please remember that behind every resume is a person with dreams, potential, and a willingness to learn. A single missing skill or imperfect experience shouldn’t overshadow someone’s dedication or passion.

Resumes are important, but they don’t always capture the whole story. Sometimes the best candidates are hidden behind humble CVs. On the other hand, even the most polished resumes don’t guarantee the right mindset or attitude for growth.

Take a moment to connect, talk, or interview. You might discover an amazing talent waiting for a chance. Let’s give opportunities to those who are eager to prove themselves—you may be surprised by what they bring to the table.

Language Barriers in Interviews: A Real Problem 😬

I work in HR in the UAE, and I see this happen all the time. Good candidates come for interviews but can't speak English well. They get nervous and can't show their real skills.

The funny thing is - many of these people become our best workers later. But we also hire people who speak great English in interviews, then they don't do well at work.

Yes, communication is important for most jobs. But we're in the UAE - people come from everywhere. Just because someone has an accent or takes time to think doesn't mean they're not good at their job.

I think we need to look deeper. Real skills matter more than perfect English in an interview.

There are many fake job offers circulating in Dubai. So,Please stay alert when applying for jobs.

    ✅ Important Tips:

📌Scammers may email you to schedule interviews — don’t trust blindly.
Always go for the interview only if you gets the call from the company.

📌Do not pay any money for visa, medical, or training — real companies never ask this.

📌Google the company and verify if it’s legitimate before attending the interview.

👉 Before you go, confirm all details:
    • Is the company real?
    • Is the location trustworthy?
    • Are they using a professional email domain.

    #RECRUITMENT

A gentle reminder to all job seekers: please take a moment to read the job description before applying.

As someone who goes through hundreds of applications for a single role, I completely understand the urgency and pressure of job hunting. But often, many applications come through that don’t match the requirements at all — and it becomes tough to focus on those who might truly be a great fit.

When you apply without meeting the key criteria, it can unintentionally take time away from reviewing candidates who align with the role — and it may also affect your chances of being noticed for positions you're actually suited for.

Your time is valuable, and so is ours. Let’s help each other by being more mindful when applying.

Wishing everyone the best in their job search. 🙏
