Job Description

Role Overview

This appointment sits at an entry grade in the social sciences cadre, where the day-to-day work centres on engaging directly with communities, individuals and partner institutions to deliver the organisation's social development and welfare objectives. The post-holder gathers, verifies and maintains records on beneficiaries and programmes, supports field activities, and turns that information into clear written briefs and reports that inform decisions at higher levels. It matters because the accuracy, empathy and reliability of this frontline work determine whether interventions actually reach the people they are meant to serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, verify and update information on individuals, households or target groups, ensuring records are complete, accurate and handled confidentially.
  • Support the planning and delivery of field activities, community engagements and awareness sessions, including logistical and administrative arrangements.
  • Prepare routine correspondence, activity notes, minutes and periodic progress reports for review by supervisors.
  • Maintain both physical and electronic filing systems so that programme data can be retrieved quickly and audited without difficulty.
  • Liaise with community representatives, partner organisations and other stakeholders to coordinate activities and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Identify and flag emerging social issues and case-specific concerns to the appropriate officer for escalation or intervention.
  • Enter, tidy and cross-check data using standard office software, producing simple summaries, tables and statistics as required.
  • Carry out any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor that fall within the scope of the grade.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences from a recognised university is mandatory for appointment to this grade.
  • A Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognised institution is required, and applicants should be able to apply that training to everyday tasks such as word processing, spreadsheets, records management and email.
  • Both qualifications must be verifiable from institutions recognised within the relevant education framework.
  • Appointment at this grade is assessed on the strength of academic qualification and certified computer proficiency, so candidates should be able to demonstrate a solid grasp of the subject matter of their degree alongside practical office-software competence.
  • Successful candidates will be expected to communicate clearly in writing and in person, work respectfully with people from varied social backgrounds, and handle sensitive personal information discreetly.
