Role Overview
You will be the face of the dining experience, combining attentive table service with efficient cashiering duties in a fast-paced hotel or restaurant environment. Your day-to-day work involves taking orders, serving meals and beverages, clearing tables, and handling payments accurately, all while keeping guest satisfaction at the forefront. This role matters because smooth service and error-free transactions directly shape the establishment's reputation and repeat business.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly as they enter, guide them to their tables, and present menus or daily specials as needed.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and serve them promptly, checking back with customers to ensure their meal meets expectations.
- Monitor the dining area, clear used dishes and cutlery after each course, and reset tables for the next seating.
- Receive payments through cash, card, checks, vouchers, or automatic debits, and issue accurate receipts, refunds, and change.
- Reconcile the cash drawer at the start and end of shifts, verifying the opening balance and ensuring sufficient change is available.
- Calculate bills using cash registers or optical scanners, confirm prices, and process coupons or loyalty credits when applicable.
- Address customer complaints promptly, correct service issues, and escalate unresolved concerns to management where necessary.
- Keep the checkout area, service stations, and dining surfaces clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Hold a recognized professional qualification in Food and Beverage from a reputable institution; a diploma in food and beverage production and service is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a credible hotel or restaurant setting, with proven capability in both serving and cashiering.
- Demonstrated honesty and trustworthiness, especially when handling cash, cards, and customer data.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to interact clearly with guests, team members, and management.
- Impeccable interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy, and the ability to stay composed under pressure.
- Numeracy and attention to detail for accurate billing, change calculation, and till reconciliation.
