Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a high-energy and persuasive Van Sales Lady to join our distribution team in Dandora. The primary objective of this role is to drive the sales and physical distribution of FMCG products to retail outlets within a designated territory. You will be responsible for the entire sales cycle—from planning efficient routes and pitching to new shopkeepers to managing van inventory and reconciling daily collections. This position is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys field-based work and has a proven ability to meet and exceed ambitious sales targets while maintaining excellent customer relations.

Core Responsibilities

Sales Execution & Market Expansion

  • Sell and deliver a diverse range of FMCG products directly to retail outlets and wholesalers along assigned routes.

  • Actively identify and onboard new retail customers to expand the company’s market footprint within the area.

  • Achieve and consistently strive to surpass daily, weekly, and monthly sales volume targets.

  • Monitor competitor pricing and product placement, providing feedback to management on market trends.

Route & Territory Optimization

  • Plan and adhere to efficient daily route schedules to ensure maximum market coverage and timely deliveries.

  • Ensure all existing clients on the route are visited according to the agreed-upon frequency.

  • Optimize the delivery process to minimize fuel consumption and maximize the number of sales calls per day.

Inventory & Financial Accountability

  • Manage van stock levels meticulously, overseeing the accurate loading and offloading of goods at the depot.

  • Maintain clear and accurate records of all stock movements, including sales, returns, and any damaged items.

  • Collect payments from customers and ensure 100% accountability for all cash, mobile money transactions, and receipts.

  • Conduct a full reconciliation of sales and cash at the end of every business day.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build strong, trust-based partnerships with retailers to ensure our products remain a priority on their shelves.

  • Address customer inquiries or complaints with a professional and solution-oriented approach.

  • Ensure a high level of service to encourage repeat orders and long-term brand loyalty.

Requirements & Competencies

Professional Background

  • Education: Minimum of a KCSE certificate.

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Sales Representative, specifically within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector.

  • Geographical Knowledge: Familiarity with the Dandora area and its surrounding neighborhoods is a significant advantage.

Essential Skills

  • Selling Power: Proven negotiation and persuasion skills with a focus on closing sales.

  • Numeracy: Basic mathematical and record-keeping skills for accurate cash and stock reconciliation.

  • Independence: Ability to work effectively in the field with minimal direct supervision.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse retail customers.
