Role Overview
This field-based role drives the expansion of a leading telecom provider’s retail distribution network by recruiting, activating, and supporting Sub-Stockists (SSOs) and T-Kash agents. The team lead will spend most of their time visiting outlets across a designated territory, ensuring agents have the tools, stock, and training they need to register customers, handle float, and process transactions smoothly. By keeping agent performance high and merchandising standards sharp, this role directly influences SIM activation volumes and mobile money adoption in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and map suitable agent and SSO candidates, focusing on mobile money outlets and high-traffic retail stores, and manage the recruitment and activation process.
- Carry out scheduled route visits using agreed beat plans, using each visit to drive transaction awareness, collect feedback, and spot sales opportunities.
- Provide all necessary business tools to SSOs and T-Kash agents and train them on day-to-day transaction processes, including SIM registration procedures.
- Deliver AML training and testing for agents, while coaching SSOs on KYC requirements related to SIMREG to maintain compliance.
- Monitor and enforce float and stock levels at agent outlets, particularly the 1.5x stock rule, while ensuring SSOs always hold enough SIM inventory for new registrations and activations.
- Develop and uphold merchandising standards by availing branding and promotional materials at SSO and agent points of purchase.
- Report performance, stock challenges, and competitive insights to the Area Sales Manager to support territory-level sales planning.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience in a sales and distribution role, ideally within an FMCG or telecoms environment.
- Proven track record in van sales, field sales, or a similar route-based sales role.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
- Strong customer focus and ability to build lasting relationships with agents and store owners.
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills, with the confidence to drive performance through coaching and partnership.
- Analytical mindset to evaluate route performance, spot stock or float issues, and make data-informed decisions.
