Role Overview
This is a branch-based sales and relationship role that pairs ambitious growth targets with disciplined service and control standards. Day to day, you will own a portfolio of retail and business banking customers, hunting for new-to-bank business while deepening the relationships you already hold. The position matters because the branch's profitability, customer loyalty scores and risk record all depend on how consistently you convert conversations into funded, compliant, well-profiled accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow an assigned portfolio by acquiring new-to-bank customers and increasing wallet share from existing ones, funding quality accounts promptly at onboarding.
- Work with the Branch Manager to shape and execute the branch sales plan, aligning local activity with the wider growth, transformation and returns agenda.
- Cross-sell in collaboration with direct sales teams, asset finance, corporate and investment banking, and bancassurance colleagues to build complete customer profiles and maximise relevant product take-up.
- Track your own performance against daily targets, diagnose shortfalls early and adjust your action plan rather than waiting for the month-end review.
- Deliver the service promise: resolve complaints and queries raised by phone, email or letter within agreed turnaround times, keep customer records current, and keep waiting times acceptable during both peak and quiet periods.
- Safeguard the branch by applying KYC and AML processes to every new and existing relationship, following product policies and procedures, completing assigned snap checks, and recording customer data and bank income — charges, commissions and fees — accurately in the core banking system.
- Gather market intelligence on competitors, customer trends and regulatory or government directives, feeding insights back into product reviews and sales strategy.
- Complete assigned e-learning and internal training within deadlines, support colleagues in building a productive, teamwork-driven branch environment, and plan your own leave and succession coverage with your line manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a recognised university; a further education and training certificate in business, commerce or management studies is also relevant.
- Working familiarity with core banking products and services, including current and savings accounts, loans and credit cards, and a clear understanding of how each fits different customer needs.
- A solid track record of achieving sales targets and the drive to keep delivering against bank-set goals.
- Practical knowledge of KYC and AML documentation requirements and operational risk controls in a branch setting.
- High attention to detail paired with a genuine sense of urgency.
- Flexibility and adaptability to handle the shifting demands of a customer-facing sales role.
- Ability to produce high-quality output under pressure and to tight timescales.
- Confidence in dealing with colleagues at every level, with a strong internal customer service mindset.
Why Join
- Broad exposure across retail banking, business banking, asset finance and bancassurance, giving you a rounded commercial skill set rather than a narrow product focus.
- A structured learning path with assigned e-learning and internal training, plus active succession planning and development conversations with your line manager.
- A collaborative branch team where ownership of performance targets is shared and initiative is expected, not just tolerated.
- Direct influence over how the branch grows: your market feedback shapes product reviews and sales approaches.
