Role Overview
This Nairobi-based leadership role puts you in charge of a dedicated insurance sales unit, tasked with growing the company's market share through a high-output team of financial advisors. Your day-to-day work focuses on recruiting and developing top sales talent, driving revenue through strategic sales execution, and personally stepping in to support advisors during complex client negotiations. Key Responsibilities
- Build and expand a productive sales unit by sourcing, interviewing, and hiring licensed financial advisors with strong sales potential.
- Set clear weekly and monthly production targets for every team member, tracking individual progress against the unit's overall sales quotas.
- Accompany financial advisors on high-stakes client meetings and support them in closing complex corporate and personal insurance packages.
- Deliver structured field coaching and training sessions covering advanced sales techniques, product mechanics, and objection handling.
- Review lead pipelines, conversion metrics, and activity logs regularly to identify performance gaps and streamline the sales cycle.
- Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for branch leadership, with actionable insights and corrective measures.
- Ensure all unit activities comply with Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) rules and that every advisor holds valid licensing or ECOP credentials.
- Maintain strict client service standards across the unit to boost policy persistence, renewal rates, and long-term customer retention.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of active, verifiable experience in insurance sales, financial services, or business development.
- Proven history of recruiting, training, and retaining a productive team of insurance agents or financial advisors.
- Demonstrated track record of consistently achieving or exceeding personal and group sales quotas in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong awareness of Kenya's insurance governance framework, with active or eligible IRA/ECOP licensing status.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and closing skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a commission-driven sales force.
- Comfortable using sales tracking software, pipeline metrics, and reporting tools to measure performance and make data-backed decisions.
- Deep understanding of the Kenyan financial services market, consumer purchasing behavior, and competitive insurance offerings.
