Role Overview
This scholarship supports young Kenyan academics who want to combine postgraduate study with hands-on university teaching experience. Successful applicants will take up a Tutorial Fellow position at Garissa University while completing their programme of study at Dedan Kimathi University, with tuition and research costs covered for the entire duration. The sponsored programme begins in August 2026, and candidates are expected to finish their studies within the approved timeframe.
Key Responsibilities
- Enrol in the designated postgraduate programme at Dedan Kimathi University and maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the duration of study.
- Support teaching and learning at Garissa University through tutorials, student supervision, marking, and related academic activities.
- Assist with curriculum delivery, departmental assignments, and quality assurance tasks as required of Tutorial Fellows.
- Contribute to research outputs through literature reviews, data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation.
- Regularly report on both academic progress and Tutorial Fellow duties to the relevant university offices.
- Keep current with any professional or regulatory registration requirements applicable to the field of study.
- Adhere to all conditions of the scholarship, including Garissa University’s bond terms and study completion deadlines.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Be a Kenyan citizen aged 30 years or below.
- Hold a relevant master’s degree from a recognised and accredited university.
- Be registered or eligible for registration with the applicable professional or regulatory body.
- Demonstrate commitment to a university teaching and research career.
- Accept the bonding terms and conditions stipulated by Garissa University.
- Undertake the full programme of study at Dedan Kimathi University and complete it within the prescribed period.
