Role Overview
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the academic life of a growing university by delivering high-quality instruction, advancing research, and supporting student development within your area of specialization. You will be expected to balance teaching commitments with scholarly activities, curriculum review, and meaningful engagement with professional and industry networks to ensure that academic programmes remain relevant and responsive to societal needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate and, where applicable, postgraduate lectures and seminars, ensuring content is current, rigorous, and aligned with the university’s learning outcomes.
- Design and update course materials, including syllabi, reading lists, assessments, and practical exercises that reflect developments in the field.
- Mark assignments, examinations, and projects, while providing constructive feedback that helps students improve their analytical and professional skills.
- Supervise student research projects, dissertations, or theses, offering guidance on methodology, academic writing, and ethical practice.
- Conduct original research and publish findings in recognised journals, conference proceedings, or other appropriate scholarly outlets within your discipline.
- Participate in departmental committees, curriculum reviews, quality assurance processes, and other institutional activities that support academic governance.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with industry partners, professional bodies, and peer institutions to enrich teaching content and create placement or research opportunities for students.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, including support for their career development and participation in professional community activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in the relevant area of specialisation from a recognised university is mandatory.
- A PhD in the relevant field is strongly preferred and will be considered an added advantage for seniority and progression.
- Demonstrable university-level teaching experience is required, with professional or industry experience also valued where relevant to the specialisation.
- Evidence of scholarly output, research engagement, or professional contributions that show active participation in the discipline is essential.
- Applicants must satisfy the academic staffing requirements set by the Commission for University Education (CUE) and any other relevant regulatory or professional bodies.
- Where the specialisation requires it, applicants must hold current registration, licensure, or membership with the appropriate professional or regulatory organisation.
