Tutorial Fellow - Pharmacy

Role Overview

This role bridges classroom instruction and real-world pharmaceutical practice, focusing on delivering pharmacology lectures and practical sessions that prepare students for both academic and industry careers. The Tutorial Fellow will actively shape course content, mentor learners, and pursue research collaborations that strengthen the department’s standing in drug development and therapeutic sciences.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach pharmacology units assigned by the Head of Department, including lectures, laboratory demonstrations, and small-group tutorials.
• Design and update course syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment materials to reflect current clinical and regulatory developments.
• Lead practical sessions that reinforce drug action, pharmacokinetics, and safe medication handling principles.
• Collaborate with academic peers to revise curriculum, introduce new modules, and align teaching with national pharmacy competency standards.
• Conduct independent or joint research, prepare grant applications, and seek consultancy projects that apply pharmacological expertise.
• Present findings at conferences, symposia, and webinars to disseminate knowledge and build professional networks.
• Advise students on academic progression, career pathways in pharmacy, and postgraduate opportunities in clinical pharmacology.
• Contribute to departmental administration, quality assurance reviews, and any other duties that support teaching and research goals.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Pharmacology or Pharmacy from an accredited university.
• At least three years of post-qualification professional or academic work experience in pharmacology or a related field.
• Demonstrated potential for university-level teaching, with evidence of student engagement and innovation in instruction.
• A track record or clear potential in research, community outreach, or knowledge transfer activities.
• Valid Pharmacy and Poisons Board Practice Licence (current and in good standing).
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, interactive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and ethical practice.
