Training Officer

Role Overview

This position sits at the centre of how our people grow, and it exists because we believe capability building is a continuous process rather than a one-off event. Day to day, you will move between designing learning material, standing in front of a room to facilitate a session, and tracking how those sessions actually changed performance on the floor. The work matters because every onboarding cohort, skills refresh, and development plan depends on someone turning vague training needs into structured, measurable programmes that managers and employees can rely on.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with department heads and team leaders to identify skill gaps and translate them into clear, prioritised training objectives.
• Design and prepare training content, workbooks, activity guides, and assessment tools suited to adult learners across different role levels.
• Facilitate group sessions, workshops, and induction programmes, adjusting delivery style to keep participants engaged and involved.
• Build and maintain the annual training calendar, coordinating venues, materials, trainers, and participant schedules so sessions run without disruption.
• Track attendance, completion, and post-training evaluation data, and prepare regular reports showing participation rates and learning outcomes.
• Support onboarding by delivering orientation modules and helping new hires settle into their roles and expectations.
• Maintain accurate training records and documentation so compliance, audit, and internal reporting requirements are always met.
• Gather feedback from participants and managers to continuously refine content, methods, and scheduling.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Education, Human Resources, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated training and facilitation skills, with the confidence to lead sessions in front of groups of varying sizes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage, question, and collaborate with teams at all levels.
• Solid planning, coordination, and reporting abilities, with the organisation to manage multiple sessions and deadlines at once.
• Comfort working both independently and as part of a wider people-development team.
