Role Overview
This position sits at the centre of day-to-day people operations for a multi-brand organisation, handling everything from the first advert for an open role through to a colleague's final working day. You will act as the first point of contact for managers and staff on HR matters, keeping processes fair, documented, and consistent across every brand in the group. The work matters because well-run HR foundations — accurate records, timely contracts, clear policies — are what allow the wider business to grow without people problems slowing it down.
Key Responsibilities
- Run end-to-end recruitment for open positions across the group's brands, from advertising and shortlisting through interviews, offer, onboarding, probation tracking, confirmation, and contract issuance.
- Administer the performance management cycle, guiding line managers on reviews, feedback conversations, and improvement plans.
- Handle employee relations matters, staff welfare, benefits administration, wellness programmes, and engagement activities that keep morale and retention strong.
- Provide hands-on payroll support by keeping attendance and time records accurate and resolving payroll-related queries from staff in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidential, current HR records, reports, and dashboards, and use that data to give management a clear picture of workforce trends.
- Monitor adherence to internal HR policies and SOPs alongside Kenyan labour legislation and other regulatory requirements, flagging and correcting gaps as they arise.
- Support disciplinary hearings, grievance handling, exit interviews, and separation processes in line with policy and best practice.
- Advise managers and employees on HR procedures, ensuring decisions are applied consistently across all brands.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of five years' progressive experience in a generalist HR role, ideally covering recruitment, employee relations, and payroll support.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management.
- Professional HR certification, preferably CHRP-K or an equivalent qualification, plus active IHRM membership.
- Solid working knowledge of the Employment Act, 2007 and the wider body of Kenyan labour law.
- Additional legal training or studies would be an advantage.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office and HR information systems (HRIS).
- Strong problem-solving and prioritisation abilities, with the organisational discipline to juggle competing demands as business needs shift.
- Demonstrated integrity and discretion with sensitive information, clear written and verbal communication, and meticulous attention to detail.
