Job Description

Role Overview

This is a field-based, fixed-term relief position created to keep sales and trade coverage running smoothly while members of the main Trade Development Representative team are on leave. You will step into an existing territory and take over the day-to-day work of driving volume through outlets, distributors and retail partners, so momentum is never lost when the regular representative is away. Because you are covering gaps rather than building a patch from scratch, success depends on how quickly you can read a territory, pick up existing relationships and keep shelves, orders and stock moving without supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cover the assigned territory during the absence of the substantive Trade Development Representative, maintaining the same call cycle and outlet coverage standards.
  • Visit retail outlets, stockists and distributor points on a planned route to generate orders, confirm stock availability and correct any gaps on shelf.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with outlet owners, shop staff and distributor contacts so that coverage continues seamlessly when the regular representative returns.
  • Execute trade activities in outlets — product placement, visibility materials, promotional offers and pricing checks — in line with the agreed plan.
  • Track competitor activity, pricing movements and consumer feedback in the territory and report findings to the supervisor.
  • Meet daily, weekly and monthly volume and coverage targets set for the territory.
  • Keep accurate records of calls, orders and collections, and submit field reports on time.
  • Handle routine trade queries and escalate stock, credit or delivery issues promptly to the relevant internal contact.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least two years of hands-on experience in sales, with FMCG background strongly preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of the assigned area, including its outlets, routes and trading patterns.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills, with the confidence to negotiate and follow up in person.
  • Proven ability to work independently in the field and manage your own schedule without day-to-day supervision.
  • Prior experience dealing with retailers and/or distributors will be considered an added advantage.
  • A valid Driver's Licence is required for this role.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • Five relief openings, giving successful candidates a genuine chance to be placed on the team.
  • A defined territory to cover for the duration of the relief assignment, with clear targets and expectations.
  • Practical, on-the-ground FMCG field experience across retail and distributor channels.
