Electrical Technician - Workshop/Laboratory

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

• Craft Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Electrical Operator Level 5.
• High reliability and integrity.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with applicable electrical safety standards and regulations.
• Liaising with relevant authorities, stakeholders, contractors, and service providers on matters concerning electrical power supply.
• Maintaining inventory for all tools, machines, and equipment in the Workshop/Laboratory.
• Preparing preventive maintenance schedules for the items.
• Ensuring compliance with both statutory and Polytechnic's safety protocols regarding operation of Workshops/Laboratories.
• Supporting the smooth running of the Department Workshop/Laboratory.
• Working hand in hand with workshop practice trainers when preparing materials for practical lessons.
• Maintaining work area, tools/machines/equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper operations.
• Coordinating the planning, implementation, and monitoring of electrical power supply projects and activities within the Institution.

• Shortlisted candidates with qualifications acquired outside Kenya should obtain recognition from the Commission for University Education (CUE).
• There are two (2) Trainer positions available in the ICT Department. Candidates will be considered separately based on their academic qualifications. One (1) position is reserved for a candidate with a Bachelor's Degree, while the other is reserved for a candidate with a Diploma Certificate. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the position matching their qualifications.
