Job Description

Role Overview

You will step into a secondary school classroom as a subject teacher delivering the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum to learners preparing for checkpoint and board examinations. Beyond daily lesson delivery, your role centres on tracking individual student progress, adapting instruction to mixed-ability groups, and building the confidence learners need to succeed in a rigorous international programme. Your work directly shapes the school’s academic outcomes and its reputation as a provider of quality Cambridge education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons aligned with the IGCSE syllabus for your assigned subject, ensuring full coverage of required content before examination windows.
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments, using results to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, marks, and progress reports, and communicate these clearly to parents and school leadership.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that encourages participation, discipline, and respect while upholding the school’s behaviour policies.
  • Prepare students for IGCSE internal and external examinations, including targeted revision sessions and practice paper analysis.
  • Collaborate with fellow subject teachers to align lesson plans, share teaching resources, and contribute to curriculum review initiatives.
  • Provide extra academic support to individual learners or small groups who need additional help, including those in candidate classes requiring focused exam preparation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide events as part of the teaching team.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree in a relevant subject area from a recognised institution.
  • Current registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) with a valid certificate.
  • At least one year of hands-on teaching experience within the IGCSE or Cambridge curriculum framework.
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills with the ability to keep students focused, motivated, and accountable for their own learning.
  • Strong commitment to learner success, reflected in consistent student outcomes and proactive parent communication.
  • Prior experience working with a candidate class (examination year) is an added advantage.

What We Offer / Why Join

This position offers a monthly salary in the range of KES 25,000 to 45,000, determined by your level of experience and qualifications. You will gain valuable classroom exposure within an internationally recognised curriculum, working alongside a teaching team that values collaboration and professional growth. The role provides a stable teaching environment where your contributions to student achievement are clearly visible and appreciated.
