Industry Sector: Professional Services / Finance & Accounting
Gross Salary Structure: KES 80,000 – 100,000 per month

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly commercial, technically commanding Tax Advisory and Audit Business Development Officer to accelerate the client acquisition pipeline and oversee complex assurance portfolios for our professional services firm. Your primary objective is twofold: aggressively cultivate high-value corporate accounts across the SME, mid-market, and NGO sectors, while personally leading the high-quality execution of statutory audits and complex tax advisory frameworks. This position bridges ambitious practice development with senior regulatory compliance; you will manage every variable from establishing referral partnerships with financial institutions and legal firms through to representing enterprise accounts before the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) in complex dispute resolutions. The role demands an ambitious, ICPAK-aligned professional who can comfortably balance aggressive corporate revenue generation with bulletproof adherence to auditing standards.
Areas of Accountability
Practice Growth & Alliance Acquisition
- Formulate and execute a monthly practice growth blueprint, hitting explicit revenue milestones, new client capture counts, and operational pipeline values.
- Originate qualified B2B prospects through professional networks, targeted industry outreach, and corporate event channels to maintain a rolling pipeline of at least 5 major clients monthly.
- Recruit, secure, and manage at least 4 active strategic referral alliances annually with commercial banking groups, corporate law firms, and tech incubators.
- Research and publish regular monthly thought leadership resources, detailing Finance Act implications, corporate tax updates, and pre-audit readiness frameworks.
- Represent the brand at ICPAK congresses, sector trade groups, and financial forums to boost institutional market presence.
Client Services & Portfolio Insulation
- Deploy a structured client management architecture, utilizing clear engagement timelines, proactive touchpoint calendars, and post-audit satisfaction surveys.
- Maintain a minimum 90% customer retention benchmark across recurring statutory audit tracks, ensuring overall customer service scores exceed 85%.
- Audit existing client operations to identify structural requirements beyond current scopes, successfully cross-selling auxiliary transfer pricing or corporate restructuring advice.
- Investigate and settle client complaints or engagement escalations completely within 5 working days, instituting systems to stop future errors.
Tax Advisory, Compliance & Dispute Resolution
- Supervise the firm’s internal tax positions, verifying that all monthly statutory declarations are handled with absolute precision to avoid penalties.
- Direct the delivery of complex client tax workflows across Corporate Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, WHT, SHIF, and Housing Levy platforms via iTax, preserving a 98%+ filing accuracy rating.
- Conduct exhaustive corporate tax health checks and regulatory exposure audits, building structured mitigation records that quantify liabilities clearly.
- Act as the lead technical representative for corporate accounts facing KRA compliance checks, tax audits, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) panels, and Appeals Tribunal hearings.
- Evaluate local legislative updates and judicial decisions continuously, drafting comprehensive customer warnings within 10 days of public notification.
Audit & Assurance Direction
- Spearhead complex statutory audit engagements from early risk planning and field sample mapping through to successful technical completion.
- Analyze corporate balance sheets, review internal control matrices, diagnose operational risk factors, and deliver clear corporate governance guidance to client boards.
- Guarantee that all active audit files demonstrate total technical compliance with international auditing protocols and statutory disclosure laws.
- Compile clear independent audit reports, delivering key risk summaries and control observations to enterprise management pools.
