Role Overview
This is a regional commercial leadership role accountable for growth across the Indirect Africa territory, spanning the Surgical Innovations, Acute Care & Monitoring and Endoscopy portfolios. Day to day, the position turns regional priorities into country, portfolio and distributor action plans, coaches a field team distributed across widely different markets, and keeps forecasting, pricing and inventory decisions tied to the annual operating plan. It matters because these markets are served largely through distribution partners, so results depend on how tightly strategy, partner performance and clinical adoption are managed together.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold ownership of the regional commercial strategy and annual operating plan for Surgical Innovations, Acute Care & Monitoring and Endoscopy, converting business priorities into clear country, portfolio and distributor action plans.
- Lead, coach and develop the field team across Indirect Africa — setting performance expectations, building commercial capability and driving consistent execution from market to market.
- Govern distributor performance through structured business reviews, covering forecasting, pipeline health, inventory planning, pricing discipline and agreed corrective actions.
- Rank and pursue growth opportunities across Core Surgical, Endoscopy, Patient Monitoring and Respiratory Interventions, directing resources toward the markets, customers and therapies with the strongest potential.
- Cultivate relationships with key customers, clinical leaders, distributors and internal stakeholders to advance therapy adoption, education programmes, tenders and strategic partnerships.
- Work alongside marketing, market development, finance, supply chain, regulatory, clinical, legal and compliance colleagues to support new product introductions and dependable market execution.
- Uphold high standards of ethics, compliance, data quality and operating discipline, delivering accurate forecasts, business insights and progress updates to senior leadership.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, engineering, healthcare or a related discipline.
- Substantial commercial experience in medical devices, healthcare or a comparable regulated industry, including accountability for sales delivery across multiple markets.
- Demonstrated experience leading people and/or managing complex distributor networks, with the ability to coach teams and influence partners across different cultures and geographies.
- Strong capability in business planning, forecasting, pipeline management, tender execution, pricing and financial performance management.
- Fluent business English together with Arabic and/or French — this language requirement is mandatory.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout the Indirect Africa region, with a firm commitment to ethical conduct, compliance and inclusive leadership.
Advantageous but not essential:
- Exposure to Surgical Innovations, Acute Care & Monitoring, Endoscopy or closely related portfolios.
- Familiarity with distributor-led African markets.
- An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.
