Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the centre of the organisation’s internal technology operations, responsible for building, maintaining, and protecting the custom software that staff rely on around the clock. Day to day, you will translate business needs into functional applications, keep existing systems running smoothly, and respond to user-reported issues with practical fixes. Your work directly supports business continuity, data integrity, and the overall productivity of teams that depend on reliable software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements from internal stakeholders and translate them into well-designed, in-house software applications, taking each project from initial concept through to full deployment.
  • Investigate and diagnose system issues reported by users, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions that minimise downtime and prevent recurrence.
  • Create and maintain clear, practical documentation for all in-house applications, ensuring that knowledge is accessible to support staff and future developers.
  • Perform structured quality assurance testing on new and modified business application modules before they are released to the wider organisation.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing with business process teams, ensuring that software changes meet real-world needs and are approved before go-live.
  • Develop and support system integration interfaces, enabling smooth data exchange between internal applications and external platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure specialists and database administrators to implement reliable backup and recovery routines that safeguard business-critical data and applications.
  • Monitor application availability, respond promptly to service interruptions, and restore functionality as quickly as possible to maintain continuous operation.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or a related field; a recognised diploma in Computer Science may be considered with relevant experience.
  • Professional certification in systems analysis and design is highly desirable.
  • Microsoft professional certifications or Oracle certifications will be viewed favourably.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience supporting an internal programming or intranet environment, with proven expertise in business application support.
  • Minimum two years of programming experience using .NET and Microsoft .NET technologies, alongside practical working knowledge of Oracle RDBMS and SQL Server.
  • Solid familiarity with Microsoft technologies, especially in the context of web application and mobile application development.
  • Strong self-motivation and a genuine enjoyment of problem-solving, solution development, and system integration challenges.
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively, work independently, and take proactive ownership of tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across a broad range of technical and non-technical professionals.
  • A customer-focused mindset, keen attention to detail, and a results-driven approach to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Professional grooming and a polished self-presentation, reflecting the standards expected when interacting with internal clients and stakeholders.
